I am a millennial who has been living in Toronto for 10+ years. I have never said a single one of these things, and only a few sounded remotely familiar.

Maybe Torontonians talk like this (they all seem to believe they're the centre of the universe-NOT) but the rest of Canada DOES NOT. And Drake is the centre of Canada? OMG He is NOT

The title of this video is misleading. This is T. slang ONLY. Except the 'tru'. Usually uttered quietly multiple times with nods of affirmation all around. 'True true..true..'

Some of these are kinda cringe and were used in like 2012. The only ones I hear now are waste, waste man, Ahlie, sus (sus means “it’s aight” or like “it’s not that great”) and “hush your beak/shut your beak”(means shut up). In middle school, me and this other kid started impersonating our teacher who did weird things with his lips. At first it started of as a simple lip sucking sound, and then it evolved into the lip sucking but with high pitched grunting in the background (I can’t really explain the sound) and then as people became to lazy to do the grunting sound, the sound evolved again with this version’s high pitched grunting being replaced with “uhbuh”(you kind of put your lips in your mouth and then spit them out with the “buh”). This sound spread and it spread fast. On like my fifth day of high school I was surprised to find like half of the boys in the atrium were screaming uuuuuhhhbuuuuhhhh including the grade 11s and 12 like wtf why did this become so popular. It’s epic to know nobody even knows I made it up and if I told them nobody would believe me.

Devin Stokes - Před 6 dny
Way to go and make it about race! I never said this wasn’t ‘white’, I was pointing out that Toronto seems to think it speaks for all of Canada. And this video is titled “Canadian Slang” not “Toronto slang”. You obviously missed my point in the hopes of making it a racial issue, which is par for the course these days.

Devin Stokes so slang used mainly by PoCs in Toronto is douchy...white Canadian slang is better. Got it 👍 /s
